Running on the Sun

What defines greatness? Who wins life's toughest contests? How much of a role do mental and psychological challenges play amid physical ones? "What It Takes" seeks to answer these questions and others. The documentary profiles four elite Ironman triathletes - three Canadians and one Australian who together have won 6 world championships and dozens of major races - and follows behind the scenes for a year as they quest for the 2005 world championship in Kona, Hawaii. Running just over 98 minutes, the movie includes footage of the athletes training, racing, and resting, and also opening up in extensive interviews to share their thoughts and feelings. Viewers learn much about the sport of triathlon and the duel for athletic supremacy, but also about the very human issues which confront the four athletes in an up-and-down, unpredictable year.

The movie was shot at 24 frames per second on a Panasonic SDX-900, and is presented in 16:9 widescreen format. Its rich cinematic feel and sweeping visual imagery from places around the globe - including Australia, Canada, Dubai, and numerous locations in the United States, including Hawaii - combine with compelling storylines to produce a fascinating narrative about four athletes, four human beings, and one dream, the Ironman world championship.

Dr. Nicholas Romanov's Pose Method of Running

If a picture is worth a thousand words, a video must be worth a million. This DVD is a great companion to Dr. Romanov's book on Pose running. Being able to see how running Pose style is supposed to look is a big help. I have viewed Dr. R's free run in slow motion several times to compare it against a video my wife took of me running, so I could see what I needed to correct.

The DVD contains lot of drills and exercises also. It is good to be able to see how they are supposed to be done, in addition to reading about them in the book. If you are serious about learning Pose, I highly recommended getting the DVD.

Water Running for the Serious Athlete
Guided Muscles Walking & Running

The person whose feet drop more to the rear wins the race...it's science. When your weight is more forward on your landing foot, gravity pushes you harder. You run faster or fall. You can run faster with stronger gravity on earth than you can on the moon. Your legs raise you while you are falling to keep you horizontal. Nobody knew that before Jack Nirenstein or the schools couldn't be teaching that you must push back at the ground to run. You can't push back at the ground when the muscles in front are supporting your leg from collapsing. You just feel that you are doing it. If this doesn't get your attention, then you have no desire to help yourself have an easier, more relaxed and healthier life. That being true, you might still be interested in acquiring the knowledge of movement for self transport. It would have served you well had your central nervous system given you the advanced ability naturally. Jack Nirenstein has developed an entire tutorial on everything you need to become a perfect runner and walker. His methods are soft, smooth, rhythmic, efficient, relaxed and fast. Check Jack's science out with editors, professors and publishers. They haven't responded at all, or with any criticism. They must fear if the science gets widely known, their professional status would be destroyed. Jack's intention is to pass on his extraordinary health, fitness and performance sciences.

Hyponatremia

Part of the award winning public television series Healthy Body/Healthy Mind. Physicians and researchers are placing greater focus on this life-threatening condition that commonly afflicts not only ailing patients but also supremely conditioned athletes. The human body has a limited threshold for salt concentrations and serious health consequences can result if the sodium level in our body falls too far below normal. In this program we'll detail the procedures to diagnose hyponatremia and discuss the three most common forms. Treatment options for patients with hyponatremia have been limited and not entirely effective. However some medical experts believe that may be on the verge of changing, thanks to the development of promising new therapeutic agents that can dramatically improve the treatment of hyponatremia.
