The Primitive Bow & Arrow
The McPherson series of instructional materials on primitive outdoor skills (Naked Into The Wilderness) have gained the reputation of being some of the best in the country - in fact, the world. This DVD is no exception. During this almost two hour presentation you are shown first the physics behind what makes a bow work and then John takes you step by step from fresh cut log to finished bow. Every stage is explained in the detail that the beginner needs to know in order to make him/her self capable of making a bow. And not forgetting the most important part - the Arrow - John again illustrates in great detail the steps in turning a wild dogwood shaft into a dowel like arrow. This is just one of the skills that the McPherson's include in their instruction to the U.S. Military Special Operations Survival Instructors in their on-going relationship with them.

"How-to" Construct The Asiatic Composite Bow
One of the most basic of wilderness living and survival skills, the building of a shelter takes on many forms. In this presentation noted primitive skills instructors John & Geri McPherson illustrate the making of not just quickie overnight survival shelters but what has been in the past real houses for our ancestors. Here you will watch as they describe just what a shelter is, what for it's purpose and why. Four shelters are built - each from natural materials commonly found throughout the world; sticks, grasses, rocks, sod - and more. Location is discussed, frameworks built and walls and roofs constructed. All protect you from the rain and allow interior fires. Every stage is shown and explained in detail. John & Geri have an ongoing program teaching instructors of the U.S. Military Special Operations SERE school and this is one of the subjects covered by them.
