Water Polo is a team sport played in water. It is a combinaiton of swimming, football, rugby, soccer and wrestling. A team constists on one goal keeper and six players in the water. The object of the team is to score on the opposing team's goal. The team which socres the most points at the end of the match wins. The gamne orginally derives from England and Scotland when people played a rugby in the rivers and lakes.
The game is divided into 4 periods and the length depends on the level of play. Demensions of a water polo pool can vary between 20 x 10 and 30 x 20 meters. One person on each team is designated the goal keeped and portects the team's goal during the match. Six other palyers on the team are in the pool and attempt to score on the opposing team's net. The sport itself is very demanding and can require long periods of endurance.
Players on each side try to move the ball by throwing the ball or by swimming with the ball infront of them. During a match there may be many fouls and there are often foul shots. Two main shots are the lob shot and the skip shot. Both are used to confuse the opposing player and goalie as to where the ball will end up. The winning team at the of the match wins based on outsocring the other team.
