Bowling is a sport played in which players roll a ball down a long flat surface and try to knock down pins to score points. Now known as one of the largest sports in the world, bowling can be traced back to ancient Egypt.
Bowling can be played indoors or outdoors.
Ten Pins Bowling is divided into 10 frames in which each player attempts to knock down down pins with a bowling ball. The bowler is given 2 chances to knock down all 10 pins. Depending on how many pins are knocked down the bowler is awarded a certain amount of points. A bowler with the most points at the end of the 10 frames is awarded the winner.
10 pin Terminology
Five Pin Bowling is played in Canada. In this game the bowling ball is smaller and requires no pins at all. Instead of 10 pins the bowler is now faced with knocking down 5 pins and is given a chance at knocking down the pins with 3 chances instead of 2 chances.
