By our centenary year in 1988, the LTA had developed into a visionary and creative organisation, as well as a sanctioning body, with one its chief aims being to promote tennis at adult, junior and grassroots level.
In 1988 the LTA Trust, later to become the British Tennis Foundation (BTF), was formed as a registered charity responsible for grassroots tennis, schools, development and the training of coaches.
In 1994, the LTA was restructured to streamline its management and three new divisions were created International Professional Tennis, National Tennis Facilities and National Tennis Development.
The following year, a major five-year National Development Strategy was designed to expand participation and encourage regular competition.
