Legal Muscle: Anabolics in America
by: Rick Collins

This books is excellent reading. Thinking about steroids or know someone who is? Before you make a decision know your rights under the law. More importantly, know the TRUTH about steroid use by average everyday citizens. Author Rick Collins blows the lid off the media image of illegal steroid use and explains in clear and concise language what your legal rights are under Federal and State statutes. Don't make a move without knowing the law and how to protect yourself. Highly recommended. I can't say enough good about this book!

The Steroid Bible
by Steve Gallaway

I have read other steroid books that cost over twice as much as The Steroid Bible and they simply do not stand up to the quality of information found in The Steroid Bible. There is a reason this book has been around for a long time and continues to sell well. It contains high quality, comprehensive information on steroid use, development, and muscle growth.

Anabolic Steroids in Sport and Exercise
by Charles E. Yesalis (Editor)

This is an academic book ,which will appeal to the serious researcher, in the subject of anabolic steroids. Dr. Charles Yesalis offers the research findings and opinions of steroid advocates and detractors in an unbiased scientific document.

The book includes chapters on drug testing, analysis of performance, health implications and the legal aspects of steroid
possession and distribution ,as well as a comprehensive history of steroids.

The author reveals the controversy of the subject, by introducing the aspect of law enforcement of these controlled drugs, whilst quoting the American Medical Associations view that steroids should not be scheduled and that "...steroids can be used safely."

The author shows that several decades of steroid research ,by the medical authorities, often reveals a lack of understanding of steroid dosing ,as applied effectively, by top competing athletes.

This is a book to be recommended to the sports coach, researcher and above all, to the medical and health educating specialists whose inadequate understanding of anabolic steroids is often fostered by myth and anecdote.

The authors combine to produce a work that addresses some of the most pressing issues in athletics today. While the book focuses primarily on steroid and supplement abuse, it also covers unethical practices on the part of some coaches and athletes to gain a competitive edge. Finally, it offers healthy alternatives to supplements for athletes wishing to gain size and strength without putting their future health at risk.

This book is a passionate account of one man's journey from the back alley of substance abuse to an enlightened speaker and advocate for drug awareness. Tightly written with a laser-like focus, The Steroid Deceit sheds some much-needed light on a taboo subject of building buff through anabolic steroids. Jeff Rutstein reveals the pain that young men endure to look good. It's a lesson in acceptance for all of us, men and women alike. Anabolic Muscle Mass: The Secrets of Anabolic Reinforcement Without Steroids
by Dennis B. Weis

This is one of the most comprehensive and informative books available. I have been involved in the field of bodybuilding for nearly thirty years, and have reviewed most of the material available. Rarely does a book contain as much usable, contemporary, real-world information. In my personal aquaintance with many of the true superstars of bodybuilding (including Bill Pearl, Larry Scott, John Grimek, Jack LaLanne, George Eifferman, Dennis Tinnerino, and many others), I find the author (Dennis B. Weis) to be highly esteemed and respected. Even Dr. Scott Connelly of food supplement giant Met-Rx cites Mr. Weis as an authority (recently drawing unsolicited quotes from Weis' book into the spotlight as the centerpiece of a multi-million dollar national advertising campaign).

The Steroids Game

One of the world’s top steroid authorities, Charles Yesalis, teams up with Virginia Cowart to provide a straightforward and balanced discussion of what steroids are, how they work, their effects on athletic performance, their health consequences, and possible solutions to the growing problem.

Musclemag International's Anabolic Primer: An Information Packed Reference Guide to Ergogenic Aids for Hardcore Bodybuilders
by Gerard Thorne

This text is an excellent source of information on virtually all of the anabolic substances available today, as well as some that aren't available. The even-handed treatment of controversial substances and their advantages and disadvantages shows that the authors have really done their homework. There is plenty of information here that I haven't seen in any other weightlifting books, and it's all up-to-date. On the down side, I felt that the book had far too many pictures. As with all books of this genre, you have to put up with the finger-pointing at the "medical establishment" and their supposed ignorance of, or apathy towards, any of the burning issues facing bodybuilders today. Having said that, however, I would still heartily recommend this text to anyone who is curious about any of the pharmacological and natural aids available to bodybuilders from novice to pro.
