Kenpo/Kempo Books from myfoodcount.com

Kenpo or Kempo is a common Japanese term for martial arts in general that is the translation of the Chinese character meaning "fist principles", "way of the fist", or "law of the fist form." It is a term used to refer to a wide variety of martial arts, and is sometimes used as a blanket terms for martial arts in general, especially in East Asia.

The use of “m” instead of “n” in the word Kenpo/Kempo may be attributed to the fact that in Japanese the sound is that of a soft “n”, while in many Western countries, especially in many parts of the United States, the “n” sound tends to be much more nasal, therefore, to the Japanese ear, “m” is closer to correct when dealing with western languages.

Kenpo Theory : "The Why"
by Lee Bachman

This was the 2nd book by Mr. Bachman that I've had the pleasure to read. This book is in my opinion a continuation of Quantum Kenpo with many improvements. Once again he touches on many Kenpo principles and concepts (too many to name approx 30 +), but they are more minute ones that separate the o.k. or good Kenpoist from the better or very good Kenpoist. This book is complete with a host of diagrams and photos on almost every page that help illustrate concepts such as Reverse Motion vs Returning Motion. Once again I think Mr. Bachman has done the "Art" a service by sharing the concepts that it is based on at a very reasonable price to make it accessible to the masses.

This is Self Defense (Kenpo Jujitsu) The Essential Guide For the Conceptual Martial Artist
by Frank R. Ricardo, Kevin Bryon (Photographer), Norman Lowell (Photographer), Kim Lowell (Photographer)

In 1953, the Honorable Great Grandmaster James M. Mitose posed the question in his book, “What Is Self Defense? (Kenpo JuJitsu). Since then, many practitioners of the martial arts have tried to answer this question with books on techniques and physical skills of the art. This is not a “how to do” book about techniques, rather, it is a book about principles and concepts relative to the study of Kenpo Jujitsu, blending the “science” with the “art.” This book links the mental, physical, and spiritual aspects of Kenpo JuJitsu and addresses the “why” and “how” these principles and concepts work. This book is a must read for all serious martial artists, regardless of martial arts style.

Professor Frank R. Ricardo, has been studying the martial arts most of his life. He is a hall of fame award member, holds ranks in several systems including a 7th degree in Kenpo Jujitsu and several 8th degree rankings. He has been protege to most of the martial arts giants in the world and has himself become a widely sought after lecturer, author & seminar instructor promoting his “train the trainer” programs. Special Forces, and P.A.T.R.O.L. (Professional Awareness Training and Range Keeping Options for Law enforcement). Currently, Prof. Ricardo, divides his time between teaching/lecturing internationally and training the trainers for the Maine Game Warden Service( P.A.T.R.O.L.) for the sportsmen weapons intensive enviorments. He is editor in chief of forceprotectiontrainer.com magazine, and also president of Omni Bldg. Inc. publishing books videos and dvds for top name martial arts masters! Evolution of Kenpo
by Lee Bachman

While nominally a book on bladed weapons, much information in this book is on motion per-se and its effective application in combat, with or without a bladed weapon. This is only natural, because the old saying that the weapon is an extension of the body is cliche but true. Hence many of the principles set forth in this book may be put to use whether you are empty handed or holding a weapon, and may well give you an advantage if ever forced to face a weapon attack.

Quantum Kenpo: Pulling the Pieces Together
by Lee Bachman

The information found within this book motivates the enlightened Kenpo student to think logically, to analyze and apply the precepts of physics and human anatomy to self-defense. A must for the serious martial artist.
