Where Did Daddy's Hair Go? (Picture Book)
by Joe O'Connor, Henry Payne (Illustrator)

PreSchool-Grade 2-The day Jeremiah hears his father called Baldy is the day he realizes that the man has no hair. This sets him on a mission to find the lost locks. His search raises question after question: Does it hurt to lose hair? Was his father sad to lose it? Will Jeremiah lose his hair someday? And what does it matter how we look on the outside, compared to who we are on the inside? Jeremiah's journey from uncertainty to reassurance is told in a funny, touching way. Payne's wide-eyed protagonist complements the straightforward text, illustrating well the vivid imagination of a worried child. Some of the pictures are laugh-out-loud funny and will amuse young readers. This is a delightful book that uses baldness as a way to explore how everyone is unique. It is excellent both for reading aloud in a classroom setting or for sharing one-on-one.

The Bald Truth : The First Complete Guide To Preventing And Treating Hair Loss
by Spencer David Kobren, Diane B. Eisman, Eugene H. Eisman, David Kobren

This is a very well researched source of information on various types of hair-loss treatment. The author speaks from experience with successfully combating hair loss after extensive research on various products. I think that makes the book more credible than the self-promoting product sites out there. The author covers virtually all of the effective methods of hair loss treatment, including Propecia, herbal suppliments, topical solutions (monoxidil etc), hair transplants, and more. A must buy for all those interested in knowing pretty much all there is to know about hair loss treatment options, their effectiveness, pros and cons, etc.

So You're Going Bald : A Man's Guide to the Art of PowerBalding
by Richard D. Kelley, Sherrill L. Beard (Editor), Chris Baker (Illustrator)

My goal in writing this book has been to create an awareness within all who happen to read it. I wish to convey one simple notion, and that is this: You are more than what is on your head!

In fact, you are more than the clothes that you wear, more than the car you happen to drive, and more than the neighborhood in which you may have been raised. I want you to understand that you were given an amazing opportunity when you were brought into this world. I believe, even though I don't know you personally, that you have been blessed with unlimited potential to accomplish and achieve great things. All of us have been. However, very, very few people ever truly come close to realizing their potential. Most folks are content to glide through life seeking the path of least resistance.

Many of us have great dreams of things we'd like to accomplish, but out fears hold us back and keep us from even trying or taking whatever first step may be necessary to help us move forward in our lives. It is often so easy to become comsumed with what we perceive to be flaws in our personality, our intellect, our abilities or our physical appearance, that we begin to believe we are not worthy or not capable of achieving anything above mediocrity. I don't want you to get caught in that trap. You are so much more than you believe!

The book 'So You're Going Bald...A Man's Guide to the Art of PowerBalding' is self published. It contains ideas and information which will encourage you to examine how you view yourself. This book began as nothing more than a thought. Look around you. Anything you see of worth in your life began as someone's thought or idea. An idea that was acted upon! Action. It is the key to accomplishing your dreams. It is my sincere hope that this book helps you to overcome an obstacle in your life, however real or perceived, and helps you to move on to the greatness which lies within you.

The Everyman's Guide to Hair Replacement
by Richard W. Fleming, Toby G. Mayer

If you are concerned about your hair loss, you are not alone. A recent study by Dr. Thomas Cash, Professor of Psychology at Old Dominion University, shows that balding men are very sensitive about their condition. Nearly 84 percent wish for more hair. More than two-thirds spend time looking in the mirror at their hair and wonder what others think of them. Almost 80 percent get teased by their peers about their baldness and, although they might laugh along with friends, inside they're not laughing. Instead, they feel self-conscious and helpless. Many men even feel that their hair is a symbol of their virility and youth, so their self-esteem drops a bit with each falling strand.

Unfortunately, society's perceptions about baldness have helped create these negative feelings. Another study by Dr. Cash used 18 pairs of balding and non-balding men's photographs to see how people would view them in terms of various social characteristics. The men were matched by age and race, and they approved the photographs as either representing or improving their actual appearance.

An equal number of men and women viewed these photographs in random order, with startling results. They consistently saw bald or balding men as less physically attractive, less assertive, less socially attractive, less likely to be successful in their personal and social lives, and less likeable. They also thought balding or bald men were five years older, on average, than their non-balding counterparts. Small wonder, then, that balding men worry about their hair loss.

These anxieties and perceptions concerning baldness have been with us throughout recorded history. Nearly 3,500 years ago, balding Egyptians often sought a cure that required a poultice of equal parts of the fats from the ibex, lion, crocodile, serpent, goose, and hippopotamus together with the burned prickles of a hedgehog immersed in oil, fingernail scrapings, and a mix of honey, alabaster, and red ochre. Obviously, the Egyptians were concerned enough about hair loss to take some significant risks in trying to solve it.

Today's solutions for baldness may appear more scientific and easier to accept, but they otherwise drive at the same basic need: to get back the hairline we used to enjoy seeing in the mirror. If you've lost some or most of your hair, you've probably at least begun the frustrating process of trying to deal with your loss. Perhaps you've struggled with combing and recombing your hair to cover thinning spots. You've tried special shampoos and conditioners which promise to "deep clean" your hair follicles and promote healthy growth. Or you've gone on special diets and taken nutritional supplements to give your hair back the nutrients it appears to be missing. You may even have repeatedly (and futilely) massaged your scalp or rubbed quantities of exotic lotions on your head to coax back what has disappeared with alarming swiftness. These and other treatments have become part of a multi-billion dollar business in hair restoration.

Baldness, Grayness: Treatable or Nontreatable?
by Anthony J. Parrotto

These shocking facts are made clear—literally millions of people are developing common baldness and common grayness before they should—that is, prematurely; and that millions are afflicted needlessly with dandruff without realizing its significance. The reason is that the problems of common baldness, common grayness, and dandruff are not understood by the general public. In fact, they are not understood by barbers, beauticians, and most medical doctors as well! And as a result, widespread confusion and anxiety prevail, and superstition and quackery flourish.

Actually, as this book clearly explains, common baldness and common grayness can be checked when developing prematurely, and dandruff can be cured, but not with tonics, shampoos, scalp treatments, or other promising contrivances.

Here, for the first time, are the answers—answers to the questions about baldness and grayness which barbers, beauticians, and medical doctors are so often asked but were unable to answer adequately until now. Here are the answers written in plain, nontechnical language and guaranteeing nothing but the truth!

Read this revealing book and learn why one man may lose his hair at 32 and another have a full head of hair at 72. Find out why one woman may be gray in her 20’s and another have beautifully bright hair at 55. There are reasons, and the author explains for the first time what can and should be done about them.

Here are no medical miracles or claims, usually unsupported, but the plain, unvarnished truth!

Be the first—not the last—to know these startling new facts. They may very well change your life! Are thinning and graying hair problems of aging? Are they part of premature aging which has become a startling symptom of our times? Can we do anything to check them? Is dandruff merely a cosmetic problem? Or is it an indication of a body imbalance? Can dandruff truly be cured?

Revealing the answers to these and other problems which confront almost every man and woman, this amazing book enables you to meet effectively and with real knowledge the first indelible signs of "growing old."
