Anne Ramsey (1 September 1929 - 11 August 1988) was an American actress who is most recognized for two roles: as Mama Fratelli in Steven Spielberg's The Goonies; and as Mrs. Lift, the mother of Danny DeVito's character in her Academy Award nominated performance in Throw Momma from the Train.

Born Anne Mobley in Omaha, Nebraska, she attended Bennington College and became interested in the theatre. She performed in several Broadway productions in the 1950s. She married actor Logan Ramsey in 1954 and moved to Philadelphia.

In the early 1970s, she began a long and successful career as a character actor in Hollywood. She appeared with her husband in five films, including The Sporting Club and Meet the Hollowheads, her first and last movie roles.

Ramsey's slurred speech, a trademark of her later performances, was caused in part from having some of her tongue and jaw removed during a cancer operation in the mid 1980s.

In 1988, the disease relapsed and she succumbed to throat cancer in Los Angeles, aged 58.
