Trevis Smith (born September 8, 1976) is a professional football player with the Saskatchewan Roughriders, who is notable for having his HIV-positive status disclosed by the Canadian government after he was charged with aggravated sexual assault.
Born in Montgomery, Alabama, Smith was formerly a linebacker for the University of Alabama. He was arrested on October 28, 2005 in Regina, Saskatchewan, and charged with aggravated sexual assault. After appearing in court in Surrey, British Columbia, he was freed on bail $10,000 (CAD), and is expected to return to Surrey and enter a plea of "not guilty".
Constable Marc Searle of the RCMP named a complainant called simply "A. O." who claimed that Smith had assaulted her between Nov. 26, 2003, and May 18, 2005.
