Methods of Consumption
PCP is a white crystalline powder that is readily soluble in water or alcohol but it has a distinctive bitter chemical taste. PCP is found in the form of tablets, capsules, and colored powders. It is usually snorted, smoked or eaten. People who choose to smoking PCP often apply it to a leafy material such as mint, parsley, oregano or marijuana.
Consequences & Associated Risks
Risks factors include an increase in heart rate and blood pressure, sleeplessness and tremors, double vision, lack of muscular coordination, incoherent speech, decreased awareness of touch and pain, convulsions and coma caused by heart or lung failure. Other risks are similar to those of hallucinogens such as a sense of distance and estrangement, depression, anxiety, paranoia, violent behavior, confusion, suspicion, and loss of control and flashbacks. There is also the possibility of developing behavior similar to schizophrenic psychosis leading to catatonic syndrome whereby the user becomes mute, lethargic, disoriented and makes meaningless repetitive movements.
Effects
PCP produces feelings of invulnerability and a numbing effect on the mind that can often result in anger or rage. You can also have a bad trip like LSD with sensations of absolute terror.
Benefits
Research has determined that PCP can protect the brain from permanent damage after a stroke or heart attack. Basic brain research on the actions of amino acids and the effects of commonly abused drugs led to the discovery that PCP can stop the uncontrolled activity that destroys nerve cells. This discovery is expected to help people who suffer from any trauma that interrupts the supply of oxygen to the brain. Researchers are now looking for drugs that can work like PCP without producing the psychological effects.
Once its effects dissipate, how do you feel?
You may feel agitated, delusional and irrational. This is the reason why it stopped being used by the medical profession.
