There are several species of mushrooms that can produce hallucinations with the most common being the Liberty Cap (or Psilocibe Semilanceata) which contain the hallucinogenic chemicals psilocybin and psilocin. Distinguishing between “magic”, poisonous or deadly mushrooms can be almost impossible.
Cost
Street Names
shrooms, mushies, psilocybe mushrooms
Methods of Consumption
They can be eaten fresh, cooked or preserved (dried)
Consequences & Associated Risks
There hasn't been a lot of long-term study regarding mushrooms but it is known that tolerance develops quickly and the effects (possibly risks) are similar to those of LSD and other hallucinogens.
Effects
The effects are similar to a mild LSD trip and last during a shorter period of time but may include the feeling of euphoria and bodily excitement. Low doses produce an effect of detachment and euphoria while high doses may cause distortions and hallucinations.
Some people react to hallucinogenic mushrooms by vomiting, nausea and stomach pains. You can also experience a bad trip that may induce brief psychotic episodes. Flashbacks may also occur during non-drug use.
Benefits
Mushrooms in general - many, ”magic” mushrooms - none
Once its effects dissipate, how do you feel?
There doesn't seem to be any physical dependence or noticeable withdrawal symptoms.
